A simple but powerful trick you should always try when your dishwasher starts to malfunction is performing a reset on the appliance.

Below you will learn how to reset a Frigidaire gallery dishwasher and potentially get it to work correctly again (if it is giving you trouble).

Let’s dive in:

How to reset a Frigidaire gallery dishwasher – step by step

Here is how to reset your Frigidaire gallery dishwasher  (How to perform a master reset on your Frigidaire dishwasher):

Method 1- Reset your Frigidaire gallery dishwasher through the Start-Cancel button (quickest method)

While we all know that pressing the Start-Cancel button once ends up starting the cycle, many people are not aware that you press the same button to reset Frigidaire gallery dishwasher.

In truth, this is the quickest way of making the dishwasher reset so go ahead and push down the Start-Cancel button for about 3 seconds.

This will momentarily shut off the machine and re-initialize the settings within the next few minutes.

Please note that you should wait about five minutes before you try to restart the appliance.

Method 2- How to reset a Frigidaire gallery dishwasher via the breaker (alternative method)

If for any reason the Start-Cancel method does not quite reboot the settings successfully, you can try to disconnect it from power via the breaker for 5 minutes.

All you need to do is locate the circuit breaker to your Frigidaire gallery dishwasher and flip it off then wait 5 minutes (approximately) before flipping it back on.

To add, this is usually the most effective way of resetting appliances as it clears all the ‘old’ settings and sort of sets the system afresh.

Quick Tip: As an option, you may simply unplug the machine from the outlet for 5 minutes then plug it in once more (instead of going the breaker way).

If you’re in luck, this may clear the pesky error codes or flashing lights.

Follow the steps outlined earlier to try and see if a simple reset will take care of the problem causing the error.

You can then try these fixes if resetting the machine did not pay off:

Frigidaire gallery dishwasher PF code

Fixing the “PF” error code in Frigidaire gallery dishwashers is pretty straightforward if it persists (once power is restored).

Follow these steps:

  1. Locate the “Start-Cancel” button on the control pad of your Frigidaire gallery dishwasher.
  2. Next, press the “Start-Cancel” button as you normally do when you want to start a cycle.

This should get rid of the infuriating “PF” error code.

Quick Tip: In most cases, it may be necessary to re-select and begin a cycle from the start (after the error has been cleared).

For the most part, replacing the entire touchpad/keypad is your best bet when it comes to Frigidaire gallery dishwasher error code ER.

Frigidaire gallery dishwasher error code UO

If the vent is open (it is found on the top-back-right-corner of the dishwasher’s tub), your dishwasher is unlikely to start a cycle.

The good news is that it is an issue you can resolve.

Try these repairs:

  1. Take the dishwasher apart.
  2. Inspect inside for any bad/loose wiring and connections especially those going to the vent assembly and fix them, if any and try to see if the error is cleared. Proceed to step 3, if not.
  3. Look around for visual signs that the vent is ruined/worn down.
  4. Replace the old vent assembly

Quick Tip: You can order the part from Amazon here– it comes with easy manufacturer’s instructions showing how to install the part (it is typically a 5 to 15 minutes job!).

First, check the following:

  1. Is the dishwasher water supply line restricted?
  2. Is the water shutoff completely opened?

If you have corrected the above (if required) and the error won’t go away, you should risk replacing the water inlet valve.

Why?

It could be faulty and hence the reason why the dishwasher is not filling properly.

The replacement part is again sold on Amazon, partsdr.com, searpartsdirect.com, and more.

Suggested solutions:

  1. Check and clean the filters as well as the sump area.
  2. Look for a restricted/blocked drain hose.

Quick Tip: Also, for instances where the drain line goes to a disposer, verify whether the knockout plug is removed.

Temporary repair:

Step 1: Drain the water

Slide the machine out (from underneath the tabletop) then lean the housing forward (by about 45 degrees).

This should make the water drain from the pan.

Step 2: Return the dishwasher to its original position

Return the dishwasher to its usual place (make sure it stands upright and fitted properly).

Step 3: Wait two days for the pan to dry

Now all that remains is waiting 2 days to allow the pan to dry fully.

Voila! Now test if the error is gone.

Lasting repairs (try these):

  1. Clean out the leak sensor (it may be dirty).
  2. Clean the filters (they too could be dirty).
  3. Inspect the plumbing going to the dishwasher for any blockage and folding and fix the issue (if present).
  4. Replace the drain pump assembly (it is not expensive – check price on Amazon).
  5. Replace the inlet valve.
