As you will see, some of these problems may lead to even your new Samsung dryer not heating.
It can be due to an electronic glitch
You see, a dryer being an electronic appliance may run into some kind of glitch, especially after a power outage.
If you suspect this to be the culprit, you will need to reset your dryer.
How to reset your Samsung dryer
This is pretty easy as all you need to do is unplug your dryer from the outlet and wait for some time so that the electrical charge clears out of the dryer – wait for around 5 minutes.
You then reconnect your dryer to the outlet and power it back on.
If this doesn’t solve your issue, you’ll need to perform additional troubleshooting.

You might have selected an incorrect cycle

Next, if it’s rightly inserted, get a multimeter and test the heating element for continuity-Use the Rx1 setting for this test.

Check if gas supply is off

Just to be clear, you want to check that the dryer is connected to gas supply and that it is turned on.
Check if the igniter is damaged
Additionally, if the igniter is faulty, it might make your gas dryer to not heat at all.

- Open the dryer’s lower access panel and locate the igniter–next to the gas valve burner tube.

Check if the radiant flame sensor is faulty
Also called the radiant sensor, this part senses heat from the igniter(to open the gas valve) and the burner flame (to keep the valve open).
Now if this sensor is defective, either the igniter won’t glow or the gas valve will fail to open.
The thing is if the igniter is glowing and the gas valve isn’t opening, it could mean that the flame sensor is damaged and you could need a compatible replacement.
Now, below are steps on how you will test your dryer’s radiant flame sensor using a multimeter:
- Unplug your drier from the power outlet and disconnect it from the gas.
- Open the dryer’s lower access panel to locate the flame sensor which should be next to the igniter.
Note: if you are having trouble locating it, you can confirm from your service manual.
- With your multimeter set at Rx1, test the flame sensor by touching the probes to the terminals. If you get a reading of 0, then your sensor is good. Otherwise, your sensor is faulty and you should replace it.
Check if it has faulty coils
If your Samsung dryer initially gets warm then goes cold(no heat/no heating at all), it’s highly likely that the coils are bad.
You can use AP3094251/279834 coils since they are inexpensive and quite easy to find.
It’s worth mentioning that you might need to carry out some resistance checks on them though they will probably pass the test if it gets warm initially.
In a nutshell, just swap out the coils and check if that repairs it first.
