Much like many appliances, resetting your Maytag dishwasher’s sometimes resolves the issues preventing it from working.
Below is the Maytag dishwasher reset sequence to help you reset the unit – hopefully, resetting it will eliminate the fault that is making it act up:

Follow the sequence of steps below to reset your Maytag dishwasher:
Step 1:
Open then close your Maytag dishwasher door.
Step 2:
Find the “Rinse” button- of course, on the control panel.
Once you locate the button, Press then release it five times (in rapid succession).
Step 3:
Now locate “Drain/Off” button- it is typically positioned near the “Rinse” button on the control panel.
You need to press and then release the button two times, again in quick succession.
This deactivates the demo mode on the dishwasher and it may not start to run the normal way.

The following sequence will work for some models and is worth a shot if the previous Maytag dishwasher reset button sequence did not work:
Open the door (It should not be latched).
Press these buttons, one after another:
- “Heated Dry“
- “Normal“
- “Heated Dry”
- “Normal” –again
Finally close the door- the control board in your dishwasher may now have reset successfully.
Important: Please note that the entire button sequence should be pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the first button (Heated dry).

For Maytag MDB8959AWS5 dishwasher, follow the following sequence in quick succession (the door should be open):
- “High Temp Wash”
- “Heat Dry” –on the Heat Dry/Extra Dry button
- “High Temp Wash” -again
- “Heat Dry”- again
It will now enter full diagnostic mode so close the door.
The appliance will now run (in the mode) for a few minutes and finally reset and the dishwasher might resume working normally after this.

To reset Maytag 300 dishwasher (the door must once more be open – and not latched), press:
- “Heated Dry”
- “Normal”
- “Heated Dry” –again.

Don’t fret if the above sequences do not work -Most Maytag dishwasher models can alternatively be reset by power cycling it (you will be doing a hard reset).
To do that, simply disconnect it from power -for about a minute- then plug it right back in.
