Here is how to reset Maytag Bravos washer (which is essentially recalibrating it) and save the day, if your washer has started acting up:

Before you start the process:

• Empty the drum- make sure the washer drum is completely empty (no clothes or water).
• Ensure the lid is closed
• Be sure the washing machine is in stand-by mode(plugged in but with all indicators/LEDs off)

How to reset Maytag Bravos washer- step by step

1. Turn the Cycle Selector knob counterclockwise or left (all the way around) once.
2. Next, turn the knob clockwise (right) – Go three clicks clockwise (count one…two…three as you turn the dial clockwise).
3. Now go one click up (rotate the main knob once counterclockwise or left).
4. Then go one click down one more time (turn the knob clockwise or right one time).
5. What you now need to do is keep clicking it – going clockwise or right – until you see all the lights blinking.
6. Still, keep clicking it -one click at a time- until you see Rinse only option light up.
7. You now hit the Start button. The washer will now start recalibrating (you will see the lights blink across the various wash options- the row of lights should start to blink).

All you need to do now is wait.

 

Alternative Maytag Bravos MCT washer reset procedure (this works for some Maytag Bravos washer series models)

1. Turn the dial (Cycle Selector knob) until it is at the 12 o’clock position (turn dial 1 counterclockwise or right full turn back to 12)
2. Now proceed to turn the dial three (3) turns clockwise (right).
3. Next, turn the dial one (1) turn counterclockwise (left) followed by 1 turn clockwise (right).
4. Lights will now come on. Once they do, turn the dial four (4) turns clockwise (right). It will start to light some options. Wait until rinse lights up.
5. Once the rinse LED lights up, hit the Start option once.

That’s it- it is what works in some cases (it clears any sequence) and it may make your washer start running properly again.

The calibration cycle usually runs for 2-4 minutes and the lid unlocks and your washer shuts off when it ends.

 

Important tip

We highly recommend that you read the errors the machine displays first (for models with a display) and research what they actually point to before clearing them (recalibration usually resets all errors).

Just clearing them doesn’t fix the root cause of the problem so it is likely to reoccur after you wash a few loads.

In fact, it may just stop midway and flash a few lights (and they might not turn off until you troubleshoot the machine properly).

1. Turn the main cycle selector knob right (Clockwise) 1 click then wait ½ second
2. Turn the main cycle selector knob right (Clockwise)1 click again then wait ½ second
3. Turn the main cycle selector knob right (Clockwise) 1 click once more then wait ½ second
4. Turn the main cycle selector knob left (Counter-Clockwise) 1 click then wait ½ second
5. Turn the main cycle selector knob right (Clockwise) 1 click

All LED lights (but for lid locked) will be flashing ON- OFF in around ½ second intervals (See picture below)

Of course, the LED names might vary a bit but this should give you an idea.

Quick Note: Please make sure you complete all the above steps within 3 to 6 seconds.

 

Next steps in the Test Mode Procedure:

1. Rotate the main cycle selector knob in either direction until you notice “Wash”, “Rinse” and “Done” LEDs ONLY turn on (See picture below). Keep in mind that for models with a display, you might see “13” in the display.

   

        

2. Press Start once
3. Unplug the washer (or disconnect power).
4. Wait 10 seconds then reconnect power.

Your washer must not start. Also, LEDs should be off.

If it doesn’t automatically start, then the process is complete. 

If it does, there is likely to be another major fault and advanced troubleshooting could be necessary.
