If it is off, be sure to turn it on.

If yes, it is likely that your ice maker is not connected to a water line.
And if it is, it could be that the water line is kinked or damaged to an extent it is not delivering water to the ice maker.
So, inspect the water line and straighten out any kinks that may be present.

Finally, check the feeler arm – confirm that it is not pushed up and that it can move freely.
If it were pushed up, the ice maker would stop producing ice entirely.

What is your freezer temperature?
Tip: you can use a thermometer to measure the temp inside your freezer.
In order for ice to be produced, a minimum temperature of at least 19⁰F is required.
Nonetheless, LG recommends a temperature of -4⁰F for normal ice production. So, if your freezer’s temperature is above this, be sure to set it to a colder setting.
Reset the ice maker
Before you reset the ice maker, first remove the ice bin and follow this by putting a towel in place of the ice bin.
The towel will soak any water and hold any ice cubes that may fall from the ice maker.
Now, there are two types of LG ice makers and each has its own reset procedure. Here are the steps to reset each:
- For models that have a Twist/Flex Tray icemaker, press and hold the test/fill button at the bottom of the ice maker until the ice maker starts to turn.
- For models that have a Heater/Custom Cube™ ice maker, insert a paper clip into the small hole on the side of the ice maker as shown:

LG refrigerator ice maker not making enough ice
Start by checking the set temperature.
A temperature of below 19⁰F will produce ice but not enough.
LG recommends a freezer temperature of at least -4⁰F for ice production. So, be sure to set the freezer temp within this range.
By the way, have you recently emptied the ice bin?
You see, once the ice bin is empty, it will take up to 90 minutes before additional ice is available and around 24 hours for the bin to refill with ice.
So, if your refrigerator is working within this range, then it is pretty normal and you shouldn’t be worried.
Have you changed the water filter recently?
With time, the water filter will become clogged with particles. In turn, this would result in less water flowing to the ice maker hence little ice production.
As such, LG recommends that you change the water filter every six months.
So, if you have not changed the water filter recently, you will need to get a genuine filter from LG.
Using a generic filter will void the warranty as LG does not cover it.

How often are you opening the refrigerator door(s)?
Here’s why…
If you are frequently opening them, the cold air inside the unit will escape and this will prevent your unit from maintaining the temperature it requires to produce ice.
So, be sure to only open the refrigerator only when necessary.
Is your display blinking 67?
If your unit is blinking this code, it means that the doors are not closing fully.
Consequently, this will lower the internal temps hence little amount of ice will be produced.
So, start by confirming that there is no foodstuff preventing the door from fully closing.
Next, using a mild detergent and a moist cloth, wipe the door seals to clean them and then let the unit sit for 24 hours.
Still, if your refrigerator does not resume normal ice production, it means that the door seals are damaged.
Consequently, you will need to get LG OEM door gasket/seal replacement.
More solutions
Before your gasket replacement arrives, you can use the express freeze or ice plus functions.
Selecting any of these functions will result in the compressor running continuously for three hours thereby increasing the amount of cold air inside the freezer compartment.
In turn, this will translate to more ice production.
Note: before you activate these functions, first set the freezer temperature to 0⁰F or colder.
Check the water valve and water pressure
It could be that the water pressure is not enough to fill the ice maker within the required time.
When using a water filter, you will need a water pressure of between 43 and 121 psi.

So, confirm that the water valve is fully open and that the pressure is within the above range.
Also, if your home uses a reverse osmosis system, it might reduce the water pressure going to your refrigerator.

Is child/control lock turned on?
If it is, the lock indicator on your display will be turned on.
To turn it off, simply press the lock function.
Next, you will need to inspect the ice cubes in the ice bin and confirm that they have not clumped together.
You see, when these ice cubes clump together, they will become too thick to go through the ice chute.
So, if there are any ice clumps, be sure to remove them.

Inspect the chute for any clogs and if there are, use a warm rag to melt the ice clogs and then dry the chute using a dry rag.

It could be that the ice passage is clogged with ice cubes.

You see, the water filter requires to be replaced every three to six months. This will depend on the water quality in your city and the size of your household.
So, if you have not replaced the water filter recently, it could be clogged hence no water will travel to the ice maker.

In most cases, this is usually a case of low water pressure more so if it is a new refrigerator.
Typically, LG recommends a water pressure of between 43 and 121 psi on models that have a water filter.
As for models that do not have a water filter, LG recommends a pressure of between 21 and 121 psi.
So, be sure to measure the water pressure in your water line and ensure that it is within the above range.
Again, have you changed the water filter of late?
If you haven’t, then, it is likely that this is the culprit.
You see, with time, the water filter will get clogged with particles. In turn, this will result in the amount of water flowing through the filter reducing.
So, if you have not changed the filter within the past six months, you will need to get a replacement filter for your model.

In most cases, this is usually as a result of a high water pressure in your home.
Usually, LG recommends a maximum pressure of 121 psi.
So, test your pressure and confirm that it does not go beyond this.
A quick fix to this can be by partially closing the water valve to reduce the water pressure.
However, the better workaround is to get a refrigerator water pressure regulator. They are very cheap as most are usually under 20 bucks by the way.

At other times, it could be that you simply have your refrigerator not leveled as it should.
This is more so if you have a brand new LG refrigerator whose ice maker is overflowing with water.

Twist-N-Serve/Flex Tray ice maker overflows with water
For this model, it is just a case of improper leveling or high water pressure.
So, check out the above steps.
Early Twist/Flex Tray ice maker overflows with water
In addition to a high water pressure, it could also be that the flow sensor that determines the amount of water flowing to the ice maker is malfunctioning.
When this is the case, the ice maker will revert to a timed fill.
Heater/Custom Cube™ ice maker overflows with water
This is normally as a result of the size selector being set too high.
Recall that the size selector is used to accommodate the water pressure.
Note: with each increase in size, the size selector will add half a second to the amount of time the fill tube remains open.
So, you will need to select a lower size to prevent overflowing.
LG refrigerator ice maker freezing up
Typically, this is caused by an overflowing ice maker as the water will freeze over.
Therefore, make sure that you follow the above steps on LG refrigerator ice maker overflowing with water to fix the freezing up.

First, check and confirm that you have properly connected your water line.
If you have not properly connected it, water will leak from one of the ends of the water line.

This is mostly the case if your water line is leaking in your brand new refrigerator.
Other times, it could be that the water line is damaged – perhaps it has a tear or a tiny hole.

If you do not hear this click, then, you have not fully inserted your water filter.
Bearing that in mind, take out the filter again and re-insert it. turn it clockwise till you hear a click indicating that it has locked into place.
Did you purchase the right water filter for your model?
Water filters normally have a model number inscribed near the top.
When purchasing a new water filter, you will want to confirm that the model number of the replacement filter matches that of the one you just replaced.

Start by resetting your ice maker.
For better results, unplug the refrigerator for around five minutes. This allows it to clear all static charges from the control board that might be causing the malfunction.

If yes, then, the next part is for you.

If your ice maker is continuously dispensing ice, first, turn on the control lock by tapping on the lock function on your display.
This should turn off the dispensing function and give you leeway to fix the main issue.
Now, chances are that the dispenser lever is stuck and you will need to unclog it.
To do this, first pull out the lever and then push it in gently. Repeat this several times
Next, push the lever left to right repeating this several times.
Doing so will fix your stuck dispenser lever.
Tip: don’t dispense ice into a glass with liquid more so sugary drinks as the drinks will splash on the lever. The sticky residue from sugary drinks will result in the lever clogging. Instead, always dispense the ice into an empty glass and then add your favorite drink.
You can now turn off the control lock and see if your dispenser turns off.
If it doesn’t, it means that the dispenser switch is faulty. In this case, the only fix is to get a replacement OEM LG refrigerator dispenser switch.
